Low sun through a spruce forest with a mossy floor

How FloraCarbon models carbon.

From each species’ own parameters to net credits, year by year, with IPCC-aligned accounting you can follow step by step.

From planting to credits.

Eight steps, run for every species and every year of the crediting period.

Species parameters

Each species brings its own growth model, biomass or volume equation, carbon fraction, root-to-shoot ratio, mortality, rotation and density, taken from project references.

Your own species, six ways.

On Pro, describe a species the catalogue doesn’t hold, from the data you have.

Pools and deductions, the way a registry reads them.

Advanced mode lets you choose what counts, and what comes off.

Pools

Turn litter, deadwood and soil organic carbon on or off. Soil carbon starts from an IPCC reference stock, scaled by land-use, management and input factors.

Deductions

Set the baseline from crown cover, area and start year, or fix its total. Leakage and buffer are percentages.

Long-term average

Advanced results also report the LTA, drawn against the credits available each year.

Basic or Advanced.

Start with sensible defaults, then take over the accounting when the project needs it.

  • One planting per species, as a tree count or density × area
  • Start year and a crediting period of 30 years by default, from 1 to 100
  • Standard pools: litter, deadwood and soil carbon
  • Standard deductions: a baseline of 10% crown cover on 10 ha, no leakage and a 20% buffer

On every plan

What the numbers are.

An estimate
For planning a planting and comparing scenarios, before anything goes in the ground.
From references
Species parameters come from verified Gold Standard, Verra and CDM project references.
Not issued credits
A projection of what a planting could generate, not credits issued by a registry.
