Standards and data.

Species parameters come from registered afforestation and reforestation projects, and the accounting follows IPCC methods. Here is what we take from each source.

Where the numbers come from.

Registered projects supply species data. IPCC methods shape the accounting. Each row says what we take.

  1. Gold Standard

    Gold Standard

A standard and registry for climate projects, including afforestation and reforestation.

    Role in FloraCarbon

Registered A/R projects supply the growth, allometry and mortality data behind catalogue species.

  2. Verra

    VCS by Verra

Verra runs the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program and its project registry.

    Role in FloraCarbon

Data from registered VCS projects sets parameters for catalogue species.

  3. UNFCCC, which administers the Clean Development Mechanism

    CDM A/R

Clean Development Mechanism methodologies for afforestation and reforestation, administered under the UNFCCC.

    Role in FloraCarbon

Some catalogue species take their reference from a CDM A/R methodology, including AR-AM0014 v3 as applied under VCS.

    • A/R methodologies
    • AR-AM0014 v3
  4. IPCC

    IPCC

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, whose inventory guidelines set common methods for carbon accounting.

    Role in FloraCarbon

The accounting is IPCC-aligned, and soil carbon uses the IPCC method: a reference stock adjusted by land-use, management and input factors.

  5. Indian Carbon Market, under India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS)

    Indian Carbon Market

India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), run through the Indian Carbon Market.

    Role in FloraCarbon

Context for Indian projects: it is the national framework for carbon credits in India, and the catalogue includes species from India.

How a parameter traces back.

Each catalogue species carries a reference for its parameters. Choose one to follow it to its source.
